Jackson named to NEWBA Weekly Honor Roll

WALTHAM, Mass. — Brandeis University senior center Maria Jackson of Rochester, N.Y., was named to the New England Women's Basketball Association Honor Roll for the second time this season on Monday.

      Jackson was honored for her performance against Endicott College on December 30, when she scored 17 points on 6-of-11 from the floor and 5-of-6 from the line. She also had two steals, an assist and a blocked shot. Earlier this season, Jackson was honored on November 21 after averaging 16 points and 5.7 rebounds in a 2-1 opening week and landing on the Brandeis Tip-Off Tournament All-Tournament team for the third year in a row.

      Overall this season, Jackson leads the 8-3 Judges in scoring and rebounding, averaging 12.2 points and 7.9 boards per game. She is also tied for the team lead with 1.5 steals per contest. Jackson ranks fifth in the University Athletic Association in scoring. The Judges open UAA play this weekend when they take on 9-1 New York University on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.

      Jackson is a 2013 graduate of Hilton High School.
