ROCHESTER, NY - The Brandeis University women's basketball team traveled to the University of Rochester to take on the Yellowjackets in the back end of a UAA road trip that started off with an overtime loss to Emory University on Friday evening. The Judges fell short to Rochester by a score of 58-75.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Judges kicked off the scoring with a Sydney Sodine (New York, N.Y., Half Hallow Hills West) layup 21 seconds into the game.
- It was all Rochester from then on, not conceding the lead for the remainder of the game.
- The Yellowjackets led by as much as 22 points, maintaining a double-digit lead for most of the contest.
- Brandeis matched Rochester's scoring in the second quarter and outscored them 24-20 in the third, but it proved to be too little to overcome the 25-9 advantage Rochester took in the first quarter.
FOR BRANDEIS:
- Junior Noel Hodges (Southampton, N.Y./Southampton) led the Judges in scoring with a career high 13 points. She was 3-6 from the field, going a perfect 1-1 from three and 6-6 from the line. Hodges also collected five rebounds and dished out two assists.
- Senior Maria Jackson (Rochester, N.Y./Hilton) dropped 11 points in her hometown of Rochester, going 5-11 from the field. Jackson also hauled in three rebounds, collecting an assist, two steals, and a block.
- Senior Sydney Sodine added seven points of her own with five rebounds, three assists, and a block.
FOR ROCHESTER:
- Four of Rochester's five starters scored in double digits in the contest, led by Lauren Foley with 15 points. All of Foley's points came from beyond the arc (5-6).
- Alexandra Leslie came a rebound shy of a double-double, adding 12 points and nine rebounds.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Brandeis shot an impressive 5-9 from three-point and 11-13 from the free throw line.
- Rochester outrebounded the Judges 40-30 with 15 of their 40 boards coming from the offensive end.
