ATLANTA, Ga. – After shooting 42% from the field to take a seven-point in the first half, the Brandeis University women's basketball team hit just 26% in the second stanza tonight as the Judges suffered a 70-57 University Athletic Association loss on the road at Emory University. With the loss, the Judges fall to 6-10, 2-4 in the UAA, while the Eagles improve to 12-5, 3-3 UAA.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Judges' defense controlled things in the first quarter, holding Emory to just 3-of-15 from the field (20%) as Brandeis took a 14-8 lead.
• Both teams heated up in the second period, shooting 50% or better, with Brandeis connecting on 8-of-16 (50%) and Emory hitting 8-of-14 (57.1%). The Judges extended their lead by a point to 35-28 at the break.
• Unfortunately, the Judges came out cold in the third, hitting just 3-of-14 (21%) as Emory outscored them, 19-9, to take a 47-44 lead. The Eagles' Ashley Oldshue outscored the visitors by herself in the third, 11-9.
• EU kept up the pressure in the fourth, holding Brandeis to 31% (4-13) while connecting on 50% themselves (8-16) to take the 13-point victory, 70-57.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Brandeis sophomore Kat Puda (Whitinsville, Mass./Worcester Academy) led the Judges with 16 points, nine of which came in the first half. It was her third double-digit scoring game of the season and was one point shy of a career-best.
• Classmate Camila Casanueva (Santa Barbara, Calif./Dos Pueblos) added 14 points, seven coming in the fourth quarter.
• Puda and Casanueva each pulled down seven rebounds, while junior Hannah Nicholson (Sunderland, Vt./Burr and Burton Academy) led the Judges with nine caroms.
• Emory's Oldshue had a career night with 30 points and 15 rebounds.
• The Eagles' Erin Lindahl had 15 points, seven rebounds and a game-high seven assists, while Allison Chernow also reached double digits in scoring with 13 points. Lindahl and Chernow combined to shoot 5-of-11 from 3-point range.
• Emory finished the game outshooting Brandeis, 42% to 35%. The Eagles also had 21 assists on their 25 baskets, while Brandeis had just five on their 21 hoops.
• Although the turnover battle was close, 12-11 in favor of Emory, the Eagles were much more efficient with theirs, outscoring Brandeis 25-8 in points off turnovers.
