WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University women's basketball sophomore Caitlin Gresko (Howell, N.J./Howell) scored a career-high 22 points today, but it wasn't enough to lift the Judges past host Carnegie Mellon University in an 85-61 University Athletic Association loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Judges led for much of the first period, outscoring CMU, 20-17. Gresko hit a pair of 3-pointers for six points, while senior Emma Reavis (Miami, Okla./Deerfield Academy) also had six points.
- After shooting 44% (7-16) in the first quarter, the Judges struggled in the second and third. Brandeis hit just 6-of-39 from the field in the middle 20 minutes (15%). Gresko had four of Brandeis's six field goals, including two 3-pointers.
- Meanwhile, CMU hit 18-of-38 from the field in the second and third frames (47%). The Tartans outscored the Judges 21-10 in the second to take a 38-30 lead at halftime, extending the margin with a 24-8 third quarter to take a 62-38 lead in the final quarter.
- The teams were even at 23 points all in the fourth quarter, giving the Tartans the final 24-point margin of victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- With a game-high 22 points, Gresko exceeded 20 points for the first time in her career after notching two 20-point games.
- She hit 8-of-16 from the field, 4-of-8 from 3-point range and 2-of-4 from the line.
- Gresko also led the team with six rebounds, while adding two blocked shots, a steal and an assist.
- Reavis finished with 12 points, while first-year Abby Kennedy (Half Moon Bay, Calif. / Half Moon Bay) established a new career-high with nine points off the bench.
- Sophomore Lulu Ohm (Waltham, Mass./Waltham) had a team-high four assists and three steals in reserve.
- CMU had four starters score in double digits, paced by Catherine Or's double-double with 18 points and 14 boards.
- Megan Matsko had 16 points for the hosts, while Anisha Chintala had 12 and Ava Black had 11.
- Matsko, Black and Savannah Gibbs each had seven boards, as CMU won the rebounding battle, 60-42. Matsko also blocked three shots.
- Chintala had a game-high six assists.
- Brandeis won the turnover battle, 15-13, and produced an 18-10 edge in points off those turnovers.
- CMU controlled the paint with a 14-4 advantage in second-chance points and 38-20 margin in points in the paint.
