Hanley named Northeast Fencing Conference Fencer of the Month

WALTHAM, Mass. - Brandeis University sophomore Anna Hanley of Medford, Mass., has been selected as the Northeast Fencing Conference Fencer of the Month for December.

Hanley, a saber fencer who transferred from Sacred Heart University, has been the Judges' top fencer this season. She has previously earned University Athletic Association (UAA) Fencer of the Week honors three times this season. Hanley posted a 15-0 record in Northeast Fencing Conference bouts, helping the Judges to a 6-0 record in their first NFC meet of the season.

Hanley started the 2008-09 season by winning the saber competition at the Northeast Fall Collegiate Championships. She helped the Judges to a second-place finish at the Boston Beanpot Tournament and was a key factor in wins over top Division I programs Cornell University, Brown University and St. John's University, all by 14-13 scores. Hanley's overall record this season is 45-3.

Hanley is a 2007 graduate of Lexington Christian Academy. She is the daughter of Tim and Terry Hanley, Medford, Mass.
