Women's fencing wins all six at Northeast Fencing Conference opener

DURHAM, N.H. -- The Brandeis women went 6-0 in their first dual-match event of the season, a Northeast Fencing Conference meet held at the University of New Hampshire. The Judges were paced on the women's side by sophomore Anna Hanley's (Medford, Mass./Lexington Christian) 13-2 performance. They defeated UNH (19-8), UMass (21-6), BU (23-4), Sacred Heart (17-10), Wellesley (18-9) and MIT (14-13) in a nailbiter. Hanley and squadmates Jenny Press (Morristown, N.J./Morristown), Alex Turner (Lebanon, N.J./Hunterdon Central) and Adrienne Katz (Woodcliff Lake, N.J./Pascack Hills) went 9-0 against Wellesley to provide the margin of victory. Senior NCAA qualifier Caitlin Kozel (Jamestown, R.I./Lincoln School), sophomore Emma Larkin (Montclair, N.J./Montclair-Kimberly) and rookie Emily Mandel (White Plains, N.Y./Masters School) each went 2-1 in the epee against MIT to provide the margin of victory.
