
WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University men's and women's fencing teams have earned a slate of academic awards from the United States Fencing Coaches Association.
Under third-year head coach Jennie Salmon, Both the Brandeis men's and women's teams were honored as All-Academic Teams, boasting cumulative team GPAs greater than 3.30 for the 2021-22 academic year. The Judges were one of just seven programs honored on both the men's and women's sides. The women posted a 3.44 team GPA last academic year, while the men came in at 3.31. This is the second year in a row that the women were honored, while this is the first time the men have received the recognition, which was first issued in 2021.
Individually, Brandeis had 24 student-athletes earn individual academic honors from the USFCA. Seventeen men and seven women earned overall All-Academic recognition for posting an in-season GPA of 3.30 or higher, while eight men and four women were named Scholars of Distinction for recording a GPA of 3.70 or higher.
