BOSTON, Mass. -- The Brandeis University women's soccer team
picked up its first road victory of the season today with a 2-1 win
under the lights at Simmons College.
Brandeis (3-1) opened the scoring 15 minutes into the contest when
junior back Brittany Douglass (Tarzana, Calif.) used one of her
trademark long throw-ins to find sophomore midfielder Amy King
(Merrimack, N.H.), who scored her first of the season. in the 60th
minute, junior Lisa Kaplin (Armonk, N.Y.), last year's leading
goal-scorer, found the back of the net to double the lead.
Simmons (4-1) scored a somewhat controversial goal with about 15
minutes remaining, with the ball just trickling over the end-line.
The Sharks increased their pressure over the final 10 minutes, but
the Brandeis defense held on for the win.
