Women's soccer plays to third UAA draw of season, 0-0, with Emory

WALTHAM, Mass. -- For the third time in four conference games, the Brandeis University women's soccer team played to a hard-earned draw, as the Judges and Emory University Eagles played to a 0-0 score after 110 minutes of action.

Brandeis (7-3-3, 1-0-3 UAA) and Emory (7-4-2, 2-1-1 UAA) played a tight first half, with the Eagles owning a 7-6 shot advantage, but Brandeis getting three shots on Eagles senior netminder Amy Fransiscovich (Frederick, Md.) compared to two shots on Judge junior Betsey Medow (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.).

Brandeis carried the second half with a 6-2 shooting advantage, but the Eagles may have had the best opportunity. Medow came out of her net to make a play in the 79th minute, but sophomore Alexa Wahr (Minnetonka, Minn.) got a shot off that was deflected off the line by Brandeis sophomore midfielder Meredith Milstein (Waterford, Mich.). Emory carried the play in the overtime, outshooting the Judges, 9-0, but the Eagles couldn't break through.

Medow finished with six saves for her second shutout of the season and the team's fourth, while Fransiscovich had eight stops for the Eagles and now has five shutouts on the campaign.

Brandeis is next in action on Saturday, Oct. 21 in their regular-season home finale against St. Joseph's (Maine) College, while Emory travels to Mary Washington College a week from today.
