Bremner scores twice as Judges defeat St. Joe's, 3-0, in regular season home finale

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University women's soccer team got a pair of goals from junior midfielder Lizzie Bremner (San Rafael, Calif.) today as the Judges defeated visiting St. Joseph's (Maine) College, 3-0, on Gordon Field. It was Brandeis's final regular-season home game of the campaign.

Brandeis (8-3-3) got all the scoring they would need in the 34th minute when Bremner finished off a three-on-two break on an assist senior forward Lisa Kaplin (Armonk, N.Y.). Bremner added a second goal in the 63rd minute when classmate Sarah Jasak (Middletown. N.J.) fed her a ball 25 yards out. Bremner put the shot on goal, where St. Joseph's rookie goalkeeper Shannon Northrop (Westbrook, Maine) got her fingertips on the ball, but could not keep it from crossing the line. The Judges added a third goal just over five minutes later when sophomore Meredith Milstein (Waterford, Mich.) pounced on a rebound after Northrop had stopped Kaplin's original blast.

St. Joseph's (8-6) fell for the third time in its last five games. Northrop made five saves in the losing effort. The Monks got off just six shots, two of which were on goal. Brandeis netminder Julie Scherr (Baltimore, Md.) picked up her first win and shutout of the season with two saves.

Brandeis is next in action next weekend when they travel to Washington University in St. Louis and the University of Chicago for University Athletic Association (UAA) play, while SJC has its final regular season home game tomorrow against Wheelock College at 3:30 p.m.
