WESTFIELD, Mass. (taken from a WSC press release) –
Brandeis scored two second-half goals to blank Westfield State,
2-0, in non-conference women’s soccer action on Tuesday
evening, Sept. 26.
Brandeis, ranked 11th in this week’s New England Division III
poll, improved to 6-2 with its sixth straight victory. Westfield
dropped to 4-5.
Brandeis senior forward Lisa Kaplin (Armonk, N.Y.) scored the
game-winning goal with a shot in front of the net 61 seconds into
the second half. Sophomore midfielder Meredith Millstein
(Waterford, Mich.) added an insurance goal with 28:07 remaining.
Junior midfielder Sarah Jasak (Middletown, N.J.) assisted on both
goals.
Brandeis outshot Westfield, 17-9. Westfield goalie Natalia
Araszkiewicz recorded 14 saves, including 10 in the first half,
while Brandeis juniors Julie Scherr (Baltimore, Md.) and Betsey
Medow (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) combined to make six saves in the
Judges' second shutout of the season.
