Women's soccer downs Bridgewater State, 2-0

WALTHAM, Mass. – In college women’s soccer action this afternoon from Gordon Field, senior midfielder Sarah Jasak (Middletown, NJ) tallied the game-winning goal and also added an assist to lead host Brandeis University to a 2-0 shutout victory over Bridgewater State College.

With the win Brandeis improves to 3-1 on the season, while the loss drops Bridgewater State’s record to 1-2.

Jasak opened the scoring late in the first half with her third goal of the season in the 42nd minute. Senior forward Tzlil Castel (Boston, MA) picked up the assist on the goal. Freshman midfielder Sofia Vallone (Westport, CT) increased the Judge’s lead to 2-0 less than four minutes into the second half as she took a feed from Jasak and rifled a shot past the sprawling BSC keeper.

Sophomore keeper Hillary Rosenzweig (Boca Raton, FL) picked up the shutout win in goal for the Judges as she turned aside 6 shots. BSC freshman netminder Kayla Grover (Haverhill, MA) also made 6 saves between the pipes for the Bears.

The Judges outshot the Bears by a margin of 20-7, and were flagged 8 times in the match for offsides. BSC held a 6-4 advantage in corner kick opportunities.

Brandeis is back in action on Saturday at 1 PM as the Judges host Clark University. BSC travels to Babson College at the same time.
