Atlanta, GA (taken from Emory press release) -- Emory junior
Maya Vankineni scored her third game-winning goal in as many
matches, as the Eagles defeated Brandeis University 2-1 at the
Woodruff P.E. Center on Friday.
Brandeis (8-6-2, 1-2-1 UAA) was down 1-0 going into halftime, but
came out in the second half firing. After just two minutes, the
Judges answered as freshman Tiffany Pacheco (Rehoboth, MA) slotted
a ball to Tzlil Castel (Boston, MA) who ripped a shot past the
diving goalkeeper. Brandeis netminder
Emory (14-1-1, 3-1-1 UAA) broke the tie in the 68th minute when
junior Maya Vankineni, capitalized on the Judges' sloppy defensive
play, scoring her fifth goal of the season. The Eagles entered the
game ranked 11th overall.
Hillary Rosenzweig (Boca Raton, Fl) stopped 8 shots in the losing
effort.
The Judges face the Carnegie Mellon Tartans in Pittsburgh, PA on
Sunday to finish up their roadtrip.
