WALTHAM, Mass. – Five members of the Brandeis University women's soccer team have earned post-season honors from the University Athletic Association (UAA). Senior Sofia Vallone of Westport, Conn., was a first-team All-UAA selection, while classmate Tiffany Pacheco of Rehoboth, Mass., and junior Alanna Torre of Weston, Fla., were second-team honorees. In addition, seniors Ellie Einhorn of Winter Park, Fla., and Taryn Martiniello of Wilmington, Mass., were earned All-Association honorable mentions.

Vallone, a forward, was honored by the UAA for the first time. She was the squad's leading scorer this season with 17 goals and 38 points, including five goals and 10 points in UAA play, all of which led the Association this season. She scored six of Brandeis's 14 game-winning goals this season, including against UAA foes Case Western Reserve and NYU. Vallone has tied the Brandeis single-season goal-scoring record and is two points shy of tying the school record for points in a season. She was twice selected as the UAA Player of the Week in 2010.

Pacheco, also forward, was twice named All-UAA honorable mention, in 2008 and 2009, before claiming her second-team honors this season. She is second on the squad in scoring this season with 25 points, third-most in the UAA. Pacheco has eight goals and a league-leading nine assists this season. In Association play, she has two goals and two assists for six points.  For her career, Pacheco ranks fourth on the Judges' career scoring list with 86 points and is tied for the program's all-time lead with 28 assists.

Torre, a midfielder, was honored by the UAA for the first time. She had two goals and an assist in conference action and three goals and two assists for eight points overall. She notched a goal and an assist in a 5-1 UAA win over Case Western Reserve and had the game-winning goal in Brandeis's 2-0 win at Washington University. Torre dominated the middle of the field by winning balls in the air and connecting with the attack to create offensive opportunities.

Einhorn, a midfielder, finished the season with three goals and three assists for nine points. She was vital in the Judges' road 2-0 win over New York University, assisting the game-winning goal and scoring an insurance tally. Einhorn is also a fine defensive midfielder who was able to strip opponents of the ball and start the offense in the other direction.

Martiniello, a defender, is an All-UAA honorable mention for the third time in her career. She helped the Judges post 10 shutouts in their 19 games, and post a 0.62 goals-against average, 38^th in Division III. Martiniello also scored a career-high seven points on two goals and three assists. She assisted the game-winner in the 32^nd minute of a 1-0 win over Bowdoin College.  

As a team, the Judges, under 31^st-year head coach Denise Dallamora, finished the 2010 regular season with a record of 14-4-1, their best since 2003. The Judges ended the regular season ranked 23rh in the nation by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and earned the second NCAA Division III Tournament berth in program history. They will make their first NCAA tournament appearance since 1988 on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. when they take on Castleton State College at home on Gordon Field.
