WALTHAM, Mass. – Williams College senior forward Sara Wild (Portland, Ore.) scored four times today to lead the Ephs past host Brandeis University Judges, 6-0, in the second round of the 2010 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer tournament. With the win, Williams improves to 13-3-2 on the campaign and will play in the Sweet 16 next weekend against the winner of the Eastern Connecticut-Wheaton (Mass.) match. Brandeis closes one of its most successful campaigns at 15-5-1.

Wild set the tone for the game early, scoring just 3:30 into the contest. Sophomore midfielder Caitlyn Clark (Middleton, Mass.) sent a beautiful through ball that released Wild on net, and she converted for her ninth of the season. Twenty minutes later, junior forward Brett Eisenhart (Seattle, Wash.) dribbled to the end line and drew Brandeis sophomore goalkeeper Francine Kofinas (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills West) off her line. Eisenhart sent the ball to Wild, who finished into the wide open net from the top of the six-yard box.

Brandeis was able to settle the Williams attack down for a bit over the next 10 minutes, generating on shots by senior Sofia Vallone (Westport, Conn./Staples) and junior midfielder Alanna Torre (Weston, Fla./American Heritage School), but sophomore Laura Wann (Palos Verdes, Calif.) was up to the task. The Ephs ended the first half outshooting Brandeis, 14-3, and owning a 5-0 edge in corner kicks.

Wild added two more goals in the second half on free plays. She converted a penalty kick in the 55th minute after the Judges were called for a hand ball in the box, and then a free kick from just outside the 18 less than four minutes later. The Ephs added goals from sophomores Kristine Nakada (Piedmont, Calif.) in the 80th minute and Bridget Gallagher (Cranford, N.J.) with just 13 seconds left in regulation to close out the scoring. The shots were closer, 14-7, in the second half, giving Williams a 28-10 overall edge, while corners were 5-4 in favor of the visitors.

In goal, Kofinas and rookie Leah Sax (Lincoln, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury) made two saves each, while Wann had a pair and senior Julia Schreiber (Cockeysville, Md.) had three in the second half for Williams.

For the Judges, the senior class of Vallone along with forward Tiffany Pacheco (Rehoboth, Mass./Dighton-Rehoboth Reg.), midfielder Ellie Einhorn (Winter Park, Fla./Trinity Park) and back Taryn Martiniello (Wilmington, Mass./Wilmington) conclude their careers with 51 victories, more than any other senior class in Brandeis women's soccer history. They won two ECAC titles and registered the program's first-ever NCAA tournament victory. Pacheco graduates as the school's all-time assist leader with 29, while Vallone tied the single-season goal record with 17 this season.
