WALTHAM, Mass. – Four members of the Brandeis University women's soccer team have earned All-New England status from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Senior back Taryn Martiniello of Wilmington, Mass., was a second-team selection, while senior forwards Sofia Vallone of Westport, Conn.,and Tiffany Pacheco of Rehoboth, Mass., and junior midfielder Alanna Torre of Weston, Fla., were third-team honorees.

Martiniello was also fourth-team All-New England selection at defender in 2009. She helped the Judges post 10 shutouts in their 21 games, and post a 0.62 goals-against average, 38^th in Division III. Martiniello also scored a career-high seven points on two goals and three assists. She assisted the game-winner in the 32^nd minute of a 1-0 win over Bowdoin College. Martiniello also earned ESPN/CoSIDA Academic All-District second-team honors.

Vallone was honored by the NSCAA for the first time after earning first-team All-UAA honors at forward. She was the squad's leading scorer this season with 17 goals and 38 points, ranking 64^th in total points, 67^th in goals per game and 88^th in points per game among all Division III players. She scored six of Brandeis's 15 game-winning goals this season, including against UAA foes Case Western Reserve and NYU. Vallone tied the Brandeis single-season goal-scoring record and was two points shy of tying the school record for points in a season.

Pacheco, was twice named All-UAA honorable mention, in 2008 and 2009, before claiming her second-team honors this season. She finished second on the squad in scoring this season with 26 points, third-most in the UAA. Pacheco had eight goals and a league-leading 10 assists this season. For her career, Pacheco ranks fourth on the Judges' career scoring list with 87 points and is the program's all-time lead with 29 assists.

Torre, a midfielder, was honored by the NSCAA for the first time. She had two goals and an assist in conference action and three goals and two assists for eight points overall. She notched a goal and an assist in a 5-1 UAA win over Case Western Reserve and had the game-winning goal in Brandeis's 2-0 win at Washington University. Torre dominated the middle of the field by winning balls in the air and connecting with the attack to create offensive opportunities.

As a team, the Judges, under 31^st-year head coach Denise Dallamora, finished the 2010 season with a record of 15-5-1, their best since 2003. The Judges ended the regular season ranked 23rd in the nation by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and earned the second NCAA Division III Tournament berth in program history. The Judges defeated Castleton State College, 2-1, in the opening round, their first-ever NCAA tournament victory, before bowing to Elite Eight team Williams College, 6-0, in the second.
