Aileen Ascolese named Brandeis women's soccer assistant coach

WALTHAM, Mass. – Director of Athletics Sheryl Sousa '90 announced today that Brandeis University has hired Aileen Ascolese as a new assistant coach of women's soccer. Ascolese has served as an assistant at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute since 2009.

While at RPI, Acolese served as the Engineers' recruiting and travel coordinator. RPI went 10-22-3 during the regular season in her tenure, while Ascolese coached the Engineers to a 4-0 record in their two non-traditional seasons. Prior to her stint at RPI, Ascolese at Elmira College from August 2007 to June 2009, where was an assistant varsity coach, head junior varsity coach and served as interim varsity head coach in the spring of 2008.

Ascolese is a 2006 graduate of Rider University in Lawrenceville, N.J., with a B.A. in communications. She served as captain as a senior and twice earned NCAA National Student-Athlete awards and earned three Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic honors. Ascolese graduated eighth on the Broncs' career assist list and was part of the two winningest teams in program history. While coaching at Elmira, she earned an M.S. in general education.

In addition to her duties as assistant women's soccer coach, Ascolese will also serve as co-coordinator of the equipment room.

Ascolese joins a Brandeis women's soccer team that reached the second round of the NCAA Division III women's soccer tournament in 2010 under head coach Denise Dallamora. Dallamora, the program's only head coach, has been at Brandeis since 1980 and is entering her 32nd year on the sidelines. The Judges, who were 15-5-4 in 2010, were recently selected to finish fifth in the 2011 University Athletic Association preseason poll.
