CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Brandeis women's soccer team was 120 seconds from their second overtime game of the season before host Case Western Reserve struck to earn a 1-0 University Athletic Association victory. The Judges fall to 5-7, 0-2 UAA, while the Spartans improve to 9-1-2, 2-0 UAA with their third-straight 1-0 victory and fifth one-goal win in the last six contests.

Brandeis peppered Case senior goalie Anna Kennedy early, putting three shots on goal in the first 15 minutes of the contest. Two of those shots came from sophomore Hilary Andrews (Bedford, Mass./Dartmouth), who finished with three shots on goal for the day to lead the visitors. After Case Western Reserve junior Deena Levey was stopped by Brandeis junior Francine Kofinas (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills West) right around the 15-minute mark, there was just one shots on goal the rest of the half, by Andrews in the 25th minute. Brandeis outshot the hosts, 5-4, in the first half.

Case came out and increased their offensive pressure in the second half, when they outshot the Judges, 10-3. Brandeis rookie Michele Savuto (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) stopped the Spartans' first four shots on goal, but at the 88-minute mark, the hosts finally broke through. Leah Levey took a pass from senior Laura Gabster, and Levey's shot deflected off a Brandeis defender and passt Savuto for the only score of the game. Kennedy finished with seven saves for the Spartans to earn the win, while Savuto suffered the loss with four stops.

Brandeis returns to action at home on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. with a UAA contest against the University of Chicago, while Case hosts Emory at the same time.
