NEW YORK, N.Y. -- The Brandeis University women's soccer team finished their regular season with a 0-0 draw againt rival New York University today in a University Athletic Association contest. The shutout was the Judges' 11th of the season, allowing them to set a school record for fewest goals allowed during the regular season.

The Judges finish the regular season with a 12-4-2 record, 2-3-2 in the UAA. They allowed just nine goals all season, five fewer than the previous record set in 1990. NYU ends at 11-5-2, 3-2-2 UAA.

Brandeis outshot NYU, 21-9, for the game, and got 12 of their shots on net compared to just five for the home team. The Judges' goalkeeper tandem of senior Michelle Savuto (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) and sophomore Alexis Grossman (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) continued their fine play in net. Savuto made two saves in the first half, while Grossman made three stops in the final 65 minutes of action.

The duo currently owns the two lowest single-season goals-against averages for any Brandeis keeper with more than 500 minutes played in a season. Grossman (2 GA in 747 minutes) is atop the list with a GAA of 0.24, while Savuto (6 GA, 887 minutes) is second at 0.61. The team's 0.49 GAA is 0.22 lower than the previous record set in 1990 and 1991. The squad's 11 shutouts are three shy of the 2012 squad for most in a season.

The Judges will finish in sixth place in the UAA, but rank third in the most recent NCAA New England regional rankings. They will be tuned in for the NCAA Division III Selection show Monday at 1:00 a.m. You can follow the selection at this link.
