Edalati, Robinson, Eddy named NSCAA All-New England

WALTHAM, Mass. — Brandeis University senior forward Sapir Edalati of Great Neck, N.Y., has been named a first-team All-New England honoree by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Edalati, who is now eligible for All-America honors, was joined by two third-team All-New England honorees, junior midfielder Mathilde Robinson of Miami, Fla., and senior defender Emma Eddy of Hinesburg, Vt.

Edalati was one of the top offensive players in the University Athletic Association (UAA) this season. She tied for the team lead and third place in the UAA with nine goals, while also tying for third in the conference with seven assists to finish third in the league with 25 points. Edalati earned three-straight UAA Player of the Week honors during the season and scored five game-winning goals in a six-match stretch, including Oct. 5 against UAA foe Case Western Reserve. Edalati finished her career with 68 points, ranking 10th on Brandeis's career list, while her 27 goals are 11th.

Robinson did not score any points this season, but she was the team's top two-way player in the middle. "Mathilde was tenacious on and off the ball for us this season," said head coach Denise Dallamora. "She was a tremendous playmaker and incredibly dominant in the air."

Eddy was a key component in a record-setting defense for the Judges. Brandeis allowed just 11 goals in 20 games overall this season, fewest in program history. The squad's 12 shutouts this season were the second-most in program history, posting a school-record 0.54 goals-against average. Eddy, a two-time All-UAA honorable mention, also recorded an assist.

The Brandeis women's soccer team finished the 2014 season with a 13-5-2 record in head coach Denise Dallamora's 35th season. They helped Dallamora become the 14th coach in Division III Women's Soccer history to win 300 career games earlier this season, and had a school-record 11-match winning streak early in the season, rising to No. 20 in the nation. The Judges advanced to the NCAA Division III tournament for the third time in the past five years, defeating Penn State-Behrend, 2-0, in the opening round, before falling to host Misericordia, 2-1, in the second.
