WALTHAM, Mass. -- The Brandeis University women's soccer team, ranked No. 23 in Division III by D3soccer.com and No. 25 by the NSCAA, dominated possession today before finally breaking through in the 52nd minute for the game-winning goal as they defeated visiting UMass Boston, 1-0, in a non-conference contest today.
The lone Brandeis goal came off the foot of junior Cidney Moscovitch (Coral Springs, Fla./Coral Glades). After sophomore Lea McDaniel (Phoenix, Ariz./Chaparral) took an initial shot that was saved by Beacon rookie keeper Alyssa Fugiel (Easthampton, Mass.), Moscovitch was in position for the rebound. She deposited it off the far post for her second goal of the season and her second game-winner.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
* Brandeis outshot UMass-Boston 37-1, with the only Beacon shot coming at the end of regulation.
* After taking 11 shots in the first half, two on net, the Judges opened the second half with seven shots in the first seven minutes, five of which were on frame, culminating with the goal.
* It was Brandeis's second-straight shutout after allowing one goal in each of their first three wins.
* Junior Alexis Grossman (Sysosset, N.Y./Syosset) earned the solo shutout.
* Fugiel finished with a career-high 13 saves in the losing effort.

* The goal was Moscovitch's second of the season, both of which have been game-winners.

TEAM RECORDS
* Brandeis is now 5-0 on the season, while UMB is 1-2-1. The Judges lead the all-time series, 2-1.
* This marks the third time in four seasons the Judges have started 5-0. The previous two times (2012, 2013) they dropped the next contest.
* The last time Brandeis started better than 5-0 was in 2004, when they won eight in a row to start the campaign.
