WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University senior midfielder Holly Szafran of Homewood, Ala., formerly of Newton, Mass., has been named the University Athletic Association Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Oct. 26.

Szafran was honored for her five-point performance against Westfield State University on Oct. 21. In a 3-1 win, Szafran was involved in all three goals. She scored in the 17th and 79th minutes and assisted the game-winner in the 39th. The five points represented the Judges' top scoring performance this season.

It was her third career two-goal game and first since her sophomore season, when she scored a career-high six points on two goals and two assists in a win over Clark on Sept. 1, 2013.

Szafran now has 17 goals and 17 assists for her career. She moves into a sixth-place tie on Brandeis's career assist list and is one of only seven players in school history with 17 of each. With the win, she became part of the winningest senior class in school history with 52 victories. Overall this season, the Judges are 13-2-1, 2-2 in the UAA. In the 36th year under head coach Denise Dallamora, they are ranked No. 8 in Division III by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and No. 9 by D3soccer.com. The Judges return to UAA play on Friday night at 5 p.m. at Emory University, followed by a Sunday match at the University of Rochester at 11 a.m.

Szafran is a 2012 graduate of Newton North High School.
