WALTHAM, Massachusetts — The Brandeis University women's soccer team won their fifth shutout in a row to start the season today as the Judges held visiting UMass Boston without a shot in a 3-0 victory. The Judges improve to 5-0 overall, the Beacons fall to 0-4. The Judges are ranked #13 in Division III by the NSCAA and #15 by D3soccer.com.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Judges opened the scoring in the 22nd minute. On a ball that made its way through the box, senior Cidney Moscovitch (Coral Springs, Florida/Coral Glades) got her head on it at the far left post. She sent it off the post and in for her first goal of the season.
- In the 25th minute, sophomore back Hannah Maatallah (Wilton, Connecticut/Wilton) notched her second goal of the season. She rifled a high shot from the top of the 18-yard box at the left corner and found the right side of the netting over a leaping Beacon netminder.
- Junior Samantha Schwartz (Highland Park, Illinois./Highland Park) closed out the scoring in the 57th minute. After a miscommunication in the UMB backfield, Schwartz picked up a loose ball about 30 yards from net. With the opposing goalie well off her line, Schwartz fired the ball into the open net.
