WALTHAM, Massachusetts — The Brandeis University women's soccer team was forced to come from behind for the first time this season, but the Judges scored twice in the second half to defeat visiting Wentworth Institute of Technology, 2-1, on Gordon Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Wentworth got on the board first in the 14^th minute by taking advantage of chaos in front of the net.
• After a corner kick by junior Emily Richard (Fremont, New Hampshire/Sanborn Regional), senior back Mary Pastorelli (Balston Lake, New York/Burnt Hills-Balston Lake) struck the ball past a scrambling Alexis Grossman (Syosset, New York/Syosset) to score her first goal of the season.
• The goal was the first allowed by the Judges all season, snapping a streak of 553 scoreless minutes.
• The Leopards outshot the Judges in the first half, 6-4, and controlled play.
• Brandeis came out of the second half and scored the equalizer 2:09 after the break.
• Senior Lea McDaniel (Phoenix, Arizona/Chaparral) sent a through ball to junior Samantha Schwartz (Highland Park, Illinois/Highland Park), who took a touch around a defender and chipped the ball over the WIT keeper for her fourth of the season.
• The Judges notched the game-winner in the 54^th minute on a similar play.
• Sophomore Hannah Maatallah (Wilton, Connecticut/Wilton) played a long through ball from midfield with perfect pace for senior Cidney Moscovitch (Coral Springs, Florida/Coral Glades). Released one on the keeper, Moscovitch sent a low shot to the far post for her second goal of the season.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE  

• After getting outshot 6-4 in the first half, Brandeis outshot Wentworth 7-2 in the second to finish with an 11-8 edge.
• The Leopards had a 4-3 margin in corner kicks.
• Brandeis's Grossman finished with three saves, as did WIT sophomore Micaela Robinson (Goshen, New York/Saddle River Day School).
• Schwartz has scored goals in the last three games for Brandeis, giving her 14 for her career.
• Moscovitch's goal was her second game-winner of the season. Eight of her 12 career goals have provided Brandeis's margin of victory.

RECORDS

• The Judges improved to 7-0 for the second year in a row.
• Brandeis is ranked third in New England and 13^th nationally by the NSCAA. They are 12^th in the nation in the D3soccer.com poll.
• Wentworth suffered their first defeat to fall to 4-1.
• The Leopards are ranked 9^th in the region, their first-ever NSCAA regional ranking.
