NEWTON, Mass. – The Brandeis University women's soccer team outshot host Lasell University by a wide margin, but it took a pair of second-half goals in a four-minute span to deliver the Judges a 2-0 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Judges outshot the Lasers, 17-3, in the first half, but were unable to find the back of the net.
- Lasell's Kyli Swann had seven saves to keep Brandeis off the board.
- After Brandeis was kept in check for the first 27 minutes of the second half, the Judges finally broke through.
- In the 73rd minute, senior Makenna Hunt (Tyngsborough, Mass./Tyngsborough) sent a cross from the left flank to the head of junior Sydney Lenhart (), who deposited it in wide open net to break the ice.
- In the 77th minute, the Judges took advantage of a foul deep in the Lasell zone. Senior back Caroline Swan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pine Richland) took it quickly and found senior Juliette Carreiro (Upton, Mass./Nipmuc Regional) streaking towards the net. Carreiro then sent it across the goal mouth to Hunt, who buried the insurance tally.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Brandeis finished the game with a 34-5 shooting advantage. The Judges took 17 shots in each half.
- Judge sophomore Hannah Bassan (Aventura, Fla. / NSU University School) was untested in goal, while Swann had 12 saves for the Lasers.
- Lasell had more corner kicks, 3-1, and more fouls, 12-7.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- This was Hunt's sixth career three-point game. Her career-high was five points in a contest in her sophomore season, when she had two goals and an assist against Johnson and Wales.
- The goal was the 13th of her career.
- Lenhart's game-winner was the second of her career, along with a goal in 2021 against Eastern Conn. State.
- Carreiro's assist was the 16th of her career, while also giving her 50 career points. She is the 21st player in Brandeis history to reach the half-century plateau.
- The shutout was the fourth of Bassan's career.
