ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Brandeis University women's soccer team outshot host University of Rochester, 13-8, but the Yellowjackets were the only side to find the back of the net with a late goal in a 1-0 University Athletic Association victory tonight.

  • Rochester, 6-2-4, 1-1-1 UAA.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Shots in the first half were tied at 5-all, with Brandeis putting three on net compared to just one for UR.
  • The Judges turned up the pressure in the second, outshooting the hosts, 8-3.
  • Brandeis's best chances came in the 74th minute, when junior Yasla Ngoma (North Plainfield, N.J. / Oak Knoll) and senior Morgan Clark (West Orange, N.J. / West Orange) were stopped by Rochester's Gabby Sabatier.
  • The Yellowjackets' only shot on goal came in the 86th minute, when Carolyn Richards connected with Natalie Kocsis, who converted her third goal of the season.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • Brandeis finished with a 13-8 shooting advantage, including 5-2 in shots on goal.
  • Sabatier made five saves for the shutout, while Brandeis sophomore Hannah Bassan (Aventura, Fla. / NSU University School) took the loss with one save.
  • Senior Juliette Carreiro (Upton, Mass./Nipmuc Regional) led all players with five shots, one on goal.
  • The Judges also had an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks, while UR was called four nine fouls to just seven for Brandeis.
  • Brandeis dropped its second-straight 1-0 contest, while two of their last three defeats saw opponents win in the final 10 minutes.
