WALTHAM, Mass. - Brandeis University rookie Angela Chui of Toms River, N.J, of the women's swimming and diving team and junior Melissa Gorenkoff of Woodbury, N.Y., of the women's soccer team have been selected as University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week for the week from Nov. 10 to 16.

Chui was honored for her performance in a 119-89 win over Babson College on Nov. 13. She had two individual wins and a lead-off leg in a relay, breaking three school records and qualifying for nationals in the process. Chui opened the meet by leading off the backstroke leg of the 400-yard medley relay. Her splits of 29.29 seconds on the 50 and 1:00.10 in the 100 both lowered her own school records. Chui furthered her success by winning the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:08.23. That time lowered her third record of the night and met a NCAA Division III 'B' Qualifying Standard. Chui then raced the very next race, winning the 500-yard with a time of 5:34.55.

Gorenkoff, a forward and co-captain, earned Most Valuable Player honors at the 2008 ECAC Division III New England championships. In three games, she scored four goals and assisted two more. Gorenkoff was involved in the Judges' first two goals of all three contests. She had an assist on the game-winner and the second goal in a 4-0 win over St. Joseph (Conn.) College in the quarterfinals on Nov. 12, scored the first two goals in a 3-0 semifinal win over Emmanuel on Nov. 15, and assisted the first goal and scored what proved to be the game-winner in a 3-1 win over the University of New England in the title game as the Judges successfully defended their ECAC crown on Nov. 12. Gorenkoff finished the season as Brandeis's leading scorer with eight goals and nine assists for 25 points.

Chui is a 2008 graduate of City the Peddie School, Highstown, N.J. She is the daughter of Beck and Amy Chui, Toms River, N.J.

Gorenkoff is a 2006 graduate of Syosset High School. She is the daughter of Miles and Marci Gorenkoff, Woodbury, N.Y.
