NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – The Brandeis University swimming and diving team is wrapping up its 2017-18 campaign at the ECAC Championships at Rutgers University. The Judges are competing against Division I, II and III foes in the hopes of lowering records and finding a spot at the NCAA Championships.

Over the course of the first two days of the meet, Brandeis has posted one record-setting relay and three individual school marks by sophomore Tamir Zitelny (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset). The relay record came in the 400-yard medley relay, which came in 10^th and posted a mark of 1:35.40 from the team of Zitelny, Richard Selznick (Las Vegas, Nev./Palos Verde), Matt Arcemont (Santa Ana, Calif. / Mater Dei) and Daniel Wohl (Chapel Hill, N.C. / East Chapel Hill). Zitelny set the first of his school records in the 50-yard backstroke leg that started the relay with a time of 23.84 seconds.

Zitelny went on to set two more records on Day 2. He finished ninth overall in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 50.02 seconds, shaving 0.2 seconds off his previous school mark set at UAAs last weekend. In the 100 back, he swam 50.03, lowering his mark by 0.19 seconds from UAAs.

The Judges also had 10^th-place finishes on Day 2 from the women's 200 medley relay team of senior  Amy Sheinhait (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) and rookies Emily McGovern (Chatham, N.J. / Chatham), Rachel Goldblatt (Atlanta, Ga. / Galloway School) and Annie Huang (Chapel Hill, N.C. / East Chapel Hill) with a time of 4:03.75 and from the men's 800 free relay squad of Wohl, senior Taku Harada (Henrico, Va./Mills E. Godwin), Selznick and rookie Marcelo Ohno-Machado (San Diego, Calif. / Torrey Pines) in 7:00.55.

The Judges' two scoring performances on Day 1 all came from relays – the women's 400 medley relay (Audrey Kim (Livingston, N.J. / Livingston), McGovern, Goldblatt, Huang) came in 7^th;  the men's 200 free relay (Chase Chen (Villanova, Penn. / The Hill School), Ohno-Machado, Wohl, Zitelny) was 9^th in 1:26.07; the women's 200 free (Sheinhait, Goldblatt, Uajda Musaka (Winthrop, Mass. / Winthrop), Huang) and men's 400 medley (see above) were both 10^th.            

Outside the Top 16 scoring races, top performances on Day 1 came from Wohl, who lowered his PR in the 50 free to 21.71 seconds, finishing 31^st; Selznick, who was 26^th in the 500 free with a time of 4:43.35; Arcemont, who was 28^th in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:59.48; and Sheinhait, who was 36^th in the 50 free for the women in 24.95 seconds.

On Day 2, Selznick finished 12^th in the 400 IM prelims with a time of 4:07.72, but was unfortunately DQed in the final race. Goldblatt came in 23^rd in the 100 butterfly for the women with a mark of 59.01 seconds. Wohl finished 22^nd in the men's 100 free with a time of 1:41.91, and McGovern was 33^rd in the 100 breaststroke for the women in 1:08.33, while senior Richard Avrutsky (Needham, Mass. / Needham) was 26^th on the men's side in 1:00.62. Audrey Kim was 26^th in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.64.
