• Women's tennis caps season with 7-2 win over Trinity

    The Brandeis women's tennis team capped its regular season today with a 7-2 win over Trinity (Conn.) College. Senior Ariana Sanai, playing in her final collegiate home match, earned points in both singles and doubles, including the point that clinched victory for the Judges.

    The sixth-seeded Brandeis women's tennis team won a pair of tiebreakers to clinch doubles matches, and then went 3-2 in singles action to take a 5-3 win over host Case in the consolation semifinals of the UAA tournament. The Judges fell to 14th-ranked Washington University, 6-1, in the fifth-place match to finish sixth overall
  • Women's tennis falls to 10th-ranked Carnegie Mellon, 5-0, in UAA opener

    Because of inclement weather, the first round of matches at the 2010 UAA Women's Tennis championships were played to decision. The sixth-seeded Brandeis women fell to third-seeded and 10th-ranked Carnegie Mellon, 5-0. The Judges will take on host Case in the consolation bracket semifinals.
  • Rosman, Korp, Sacks earn UAA Athlete of the Week honors

    Three Brandeis student-athletes have received recent University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week honors. Junior Rachel Rosman was honored for women's tennis for April 5, while senior Chelsea Korp and junior Charles Sacks were recognized for softball and golf, respectively, on April 12.

    On a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Lewiston, Maine, the Brandeis University tennis teams earned a split with host Bates College. The 29th-ranked women edged the Bobcats, 5-4, with senior Ariana Sanai clinching the match at No. 3 singles, but the men fell to the 15th-ranked hosts, 6-3.

    The Brandeis women's tennis team earned a split this weekend in a pair of matches at Middlebury College. The 27th-ranked Judges fell to the host Panthers, ranked No. 15 in Division III, 7-2, but bounced back to top UAA rivals NYU, 5-3. Senior Rachel Rosman went 4-0 on the weekend.

    For the third-straight match, the Brandeis women's tennis team split their singles matches, but it wasn't enough to overcome a doubles sweep as the Judges fell to Division II Palm Beach Atlantic University, 6-3, on their February break trip. Four of the six singles matches went to three sets, but the Judges were only able to win one of those.

    The Brandeis women's tennis team, ranked No. 29 in Division III, dropped their second-straight match to a ranked Division II foe, falling to No. 25 Florida Tech, 6-3. After dropping the doubles matches, the Judges split singles action, winning at No. 2, 4 and 6.

    The Brandeis women's tennis team, ranked 29th in Division III, dropped the opener of their spring season, falling to the No. 46-ranked team in Division II, Flagler College, by an 8-1 score. Rookie Faith Broderick claimed the only point for the Judges at second singles.

    Though they haven't played a match since October 16, the Brandeis tennis teams, under fifth-year coach Ben Lamanna, are having a successful off-season. In the final ITA poll of the fall season, the Judge women were ranked 29th in the nation. Meanwhile, the Brandeis men have been productive off the court, volunteering on a weekly basis with the ACEing Autism program in Wayland, Mass.

    The Brandeis women's tennis team lost just one set as they completed a 3-0 fall season by sweeping crosstown rival Bentley College today. The Judges earned 8-1 wins at both No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, while rookie Faith Broderick lost just one game at No. 2 singles.

    The women's tennis team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 9-0 victory over Simmons College. The Judges lost just four games in doubles action and had four different sets in which they did not lost a game in singles play.
