#30 Women's tennis sweeps Bentley, 9-0

WALTHAM, MASS. – The No. 30 Brandeis University women's tennis team won every set against their cross town rival Bentley University this afternoon to win the match, 9-0, in their first home appearance of the spring season.  This was also the Judges first match on the newly resurfaced Gosman indoor courts.  With the win, the Judges improve to 5-2 and the Falcons fall to 5-1.

The Judges got off to a fast start in doubles with senior Rachel Rosman (Bonita Springs, Fla./Estero) and sophomore Faith Broderick (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) defeating Paulina Sotomayor (San Antonio, Texas/Ronald Reagan) and Rachael Litton (Burlington, Ont./Nelson), 8-2 in the first spot.  Rookies Roberta Bergstein (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) and Alexa Katz (Philadelphia, Pa./Abington Friends) won the third seed match 8-0, to give the Judges a 3-0 lead going into singles action.

Rosman faced Sotomayor again in the first spot for singles, defeating her handily, 6-0, 6-1.  Senior Mackenzie Gallegos (Friendswood, Texas/Friendswood) won her sets against Litton in the third spot, 6-2, 6-0.  Rookie Allyson Bernstein (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) toppled her opponent, Cheryl Martin (Pittsfield, Mass./St. Joseph Central), 6-1, 6-4 in the fourth spot.  In the cloest match, Brandeis junior Nina Levine (Westport, Conn./Staples) battled Aimee Tetu (Brunswick, Maine/Brunswick) for a 6-3, 6-4 victory.

The Falcons' next match is March 13 against Eckerd College.

The Judges are in action again on March 12 when the travel to Middlebury to take on the  Panthers.
