Cooke earns fifth career All-America honor

WALTHAM, Mass. – After finishing the 2014-15 season ranked 20th in Division III by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), recent Brandeis University graduate Carley Cooke of San Diego, Calif., has earned her fifth career All-America honor.

"Carley has been a true pleasure to coach over the last 4 years," said head coach Ben Lamanna. "She is as competitive as they come, fights with all that she's got for her teammates, and finds ways to win.  She cares so much about Brandeis tennis and she has consistently impressed me with her technical, mental, and emotional improvements."

Cooke, who was named Brandeis's Max I. Silber Award winner as the University's top female athlete this year and was the Judges' nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year, ended the season ranked 10th in the Northeast Region. She posted a 14-8 singles record in 2014-15 and a 13-10 mark in doubles. For her career, playing every match at No. 1 for the Judges, Cooke posted 109 singles and doubles victories, putting her second on Brandeis's all-time wins list in both categories, as well in combined wins.

Cooke was a singles All-American all four seasons at Brandeis and added doubles honors as a sophomore. During her junior campaign, she became the first Brandeis woman to win a match at the NCAA Division III Individual tournament.

With five career All-America honors, Cooke is the most decorated Brandeis athlete in more than a decade. She is the first five-time All-American since Mariko Tansey Holbrook '03 earned nine awards for track and cross country. Cooke is one of only two Judges outside the track and cross country programs to earn five All-America awards, joining Wendy Lowengrub '90 of the swimming and diving team, who was a seven-time honoree.

Cooke is a 2011 graduate of Point Loma High School.
