#30 women's tennis falls to #15 Tufts, 9-0

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to Tufts University today in a match between nationally-ranked teams. The #30 Judges fall to 7-7, while the #15 Jumbos improve to 9-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED - DOUBLES

  • Tufts won by multiple breaks at No. 1 (8-4) and No. 3 (8-3). The closest match came at No. 2, where Conner Calabro and Otilia Popa defeated Brandeis's Charlotte Aaron (Phoenix, Ariz./Arcadia) and Sophia He (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Spackenkill), 8-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED – SINGLES

  • The Jumbos won five of six singles matches in straight sets.
  • Brandeis senior Emily Eska (Princeton, Mass./Wachusett Regional) won the first set at No. 5 before falling to the Jumbos' Zoe Miller, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
  • At the top singles spot, sophomore Haley Cohen (Cherry Hill, N.J./) pushed Tufts' Lauren Louks in the second set before falling in a tiebreaker, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).

UP NEXT

  • The Judges meet Trinity (Conn.) tomorrow at 10 a.m. as part of a doubleheader with the #23 men, who play at 2 p.m.
