WALTHAM, Mass. -- The Brandeis University women's tennis team dropped its inaugural match at the Cordish Tennis Center today, falling to Tufts, 9-0. It was the first match of the season for both teams.
The Judges' top performer was junior Ana Hatfield (Rockford, Ill. / Boylan Central Catholic), who paired with rookie Ella Subramanian (Parkland, Fla. / Laurel Springs) at No. 2 doubles for the closest match, an 8-3 defeat. In singles, Hatfield won her first set at #2 singles, but couldn't hang on, losing 7-5, 5-7, 7-10, in a third-set super tiebreaker. Senior Isabel Cepeda (Mason, Ohio / William Mason) also played a tight match at #5 singles, falling 4-6, 4-6.
The Judges (0-1) will next take on Merrimack College on April 16 at home.
