REDLANDS, Calif. – The Brandeis University women's tennis team dropped its second match of their 2022 February Break trip to California, 5-2, to the University of Redlands. With the loss, the Judges fall to 1-4 on the season, while the Bulldogs improve to 2-1.

Because of weather concerns, the teams played under Division I rules to speed things along. Redlands ended up taking the doubles point by winning 6-1 matches at both #1 and #2. Brandeis led at #3, 5-2, when that match was suspended.

In singles action, Redlands took earned a quick 6-0, 6-1, win at #2 before the Judges got on the board at #1, where first-year Bhakti Parwani (Ahmedabad, India / Kumkum School) earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory. UR won by a similar 6-3, 6-2, score at #5 before rookie Anastasia Sia (Thessaloniki, Greece / Anatolia College) struck at #6, 6-1, 6-3, to make the score 3-2 in favor of the Bulldogs.

At #3 and #4 singles, the Judges battled to force a pair of third sets. Sophomore Nikita Salkar (Mumbai, India / Mourataglou Tennis Academy) dropped the first set at #3, 5-7, but won the second, 6-1. At #4, first-year Sabrina Loui (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou School) came back from losing the first set, 2-6, to win the second, 7-5. Unfortunately, neither was able to complete the comeback, as each lost the third set by a 6-1 score, giving the Bulldogs a 5-2 win.

Brandeis returns to action on Saturday, March 5, when they travel to Wheaton College.
