Women's tennis wins on Senior Day, 8-1, over Endicott

WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University women's tennis team ended it 2022 season on a high note today as the Judges defeated visiting Endicott College, 8-1, to celebrate their Senior Day. With the win, the Judges improve to 6-13, while the Gulls fall to 13-7.

The Judges rolled to a 3-0 lead, dropping just two games in doubles action. First-years Bhakti Parwani (Ahmedabad, India/Kumkum School) and Sabrina Loui (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou School) opened with an 8-0 win at #1, and senior Ana Hatfield (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Central Catholic) and sophomore Jiayi Zhang (Shanghai, China/Shanghai International) won by the same score at #2. First-year Cecilia Denis (Ardmore, Pa. / Lower Merion) and sophomore Nikita Salkar (Mumbai, India/Mourataglou Tennis Academy) rounded out the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win at #3.

The Judges took five out of six singles matches to finish things off, including two wins by their seniors. Loui defeated Olivia Martinelli, 6-1, 6-0, at #3 for the team's fourth point. Senior Hatfield clinched the win in her final match with a 6-1, 6-1, win at #4 over Shelby Henry.

After Parwani downed Ripley Uyeda, 6-0, 6-4, at #1, Endicott picked up their first point, with Ashley Keaveney spoiling senior Summer Quinn's (Los Angeles, Calif. / Campbell Hall Episcopal) final match, 7-5, 6-3, at #6.

Salkar topped Lejla Guster, 6-4, 6-4, at #2. Senior Olivia Howe (Cary, N.C. / Crossroads Flex) rounded out her career and the match with a couple of late breaks for a 7-5, 7-5 win at #5.
