WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Brandeis Women's Tennis team advanced one doubles team to the second day of action in the top flight at the 2022 Intercollegiate Tennis Association New England Championships today. The Judges also had three players advance in the B singles flight.

  • Sophomore Bhakti Parwani (Ahmedabad, India/Kumkum School) and first-year Rebecca Suarez (Huntington, N.Y. / International Virtual Learning Academy) earned the third seed in the doubles tournament and claimed a first-round bye. They defeated a team from host Williams, 8-4, in the second round, and will meet a duo from Middlebury in the third.
  • Parwani was the fifth seed in the singles draw. She defeated a foe from Colby, 4-6, 6-4, 10-6, in the opening round, but was upset by an opponent from Bates, 6-0, 6-4, in the second.
  • Also winning matches in doubles for the Judges were sophomores Sabrina Loui (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou School) and Cecilia Denis (Ardmore, Pa. / Lower Merion), who were 8-5 winners over Colby-Sawyer, and junior Ella Subramanian (Parkland, Fla. / Laurel Springs) and first-year Phoebe Tamaoki (Cambridge, Mass. / Cambridge Rindge and Latin), who won 8-1 over a tandem from Babson.
  • In the B singles flight, Subramanian and Tamaoki each picked up an 8-2 win over an opponent from Babson in the first round. First-year Nancy Zhang (Shanghai, China / Shanghai International) also advanced, while junior Jiayi Zhang (Shanghai, China / Shanghai International), her sister, did not.
