WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis women's tennis team kicked off conference play today against the visiting University of Rochester. The #19 ranked Judges took down the Yellowjackets 7-2.
TEAM RECORDS AND RANKINGS
- Brandeis: 6-4, 19th in Division III by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
- Rochester: 3-6
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Brandeis women swept the doubles matches on the day.
- The doubles teams of sophomore Bhakti Parwani (Ahmedabad, India / Kumkum School)/first-year Rebecca Suarez (Huntington, N.Y. / International Virtual Learning Academy) and first-years Ella Chase (Lincoln, Mass. / Lincoln-Sudbury Regional)/ Nancy Zhang (Shanghai, China / Shanghai International Division) both won their matches 8-2 at #1 and #2 doubles, respectively.
- Sophomore Cecilia Denis (Ardmore, Pa. / Lower Merion) and junior Jiayi Zhang (Shanghai, China / Shanghai International) won their doubles match 8-4
- In singles action, the Judges won four out of the six matches.
- N. Zhang dropped her match at #1 singles 6-1, 6-4, but was followed up by first-year Phoebe Tamaoki (Cambridge, Mass. / Cambridge Rindge and Latin) taking her match at #2 singles 7-5, 6-0.
- The Judges also took the #3, #4, and #6 singles matches in straight sets.
- Sophomore Anastasia Sia (Thessaloniki, Greece / Anatolia College) won her match 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 at #3, while Chase won 6-2, 7-5 at #4.
- Denis closed out the day for the Judges by winning her match 6-3, 7-5 at #6 singles.

- The Judges return to action tomorrow, Sunday, March 26 at 1 PM on the road when they take on the #31 ranked Skidmore Thoroughbreds.
