Judges Lose a Competitive Match at NYU 6-3

BRONX, N.Y. – The Brandeis women's tennis team continued their UAA schedule today on the road against NYU. The Judges battled back after getting swept in the doubles matches, but eventually fell 6-3 to the Violets.

 

TEAM RECORDS AND RANKINGS

  • Brandeis: 6-7, 27th in Division III by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association
  • NYU: 8-0, 28th in Division III by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The doubles team of sophomore Bhakti Parwani (Ahmedabad, India / Kumkum School) and first-year Rebecca Suarez (Huntington, N.Y. / International Virtual Learning Academy) provided the most interesting doubles match on the day.
  • The Parwani/Suarez team lost a close one to the NYU team 8-6 at #1 doubles.
  • The singles action saw all six matches go to three sets.
  • At #1 singles, Suarez came back after losing the first set to win the match 6-7 (7-9), 6-2, 6-3 against the #3 singles player in the Northeast Region, Ida Krause.
  • First-year Nancy Zhang (Shanghai, China / Shanghai International Division) provided the next victory for the Judges.
  • Zhang won her match at #3 singles by a score of 1-6, 6-4, 6-2.
  • First-year Ella Chase (Lincoln, Mass. / Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) won the other point for the Judges on the day, winning her match at #5 singles 6-2, 4-6, 10-7.

  • The Judges return to action Thursday, April 6 when they head to Trinity (Conn.) for a 4 PM match.
