Judges Overcome Early Deficit to Beat Trinity 6-3

HARTFORD, Conn. – The Brandeis women's tennis team traveled to Connecticut today to take on Trinity College. The Judges overcame a deficit after the doubles matches for the first time all season to defeat the Bantams 6-3.

 

TEAM RECORDS AND RANKINGS

  • Brandeis: 7-7, 27th in Division III by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association
  • Trinity: 5-5

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The doubles team of first-year Rebecca Suarez (Huntington, N.Y. / International Virtual Learning Academy) and sophomore Bhakti Parwani (Ahmedabad, India / Kumkum School) recorded the sole doubles victory for the Judges at #1, winning easily 8-0.
  • The Judges then rattled off wins in five out of six singles matches.
  • Suarez and Parwani continued their day winning their matches at #1 and #2, respectively.
  • Suarez won 6-1, 6-3, while Parwani won 6-1, 6-0.
  • First-year Phoebe Tamaoki (Cambridge, Mass. / Cambridge Rindge and Latin) continued the winning for the Judges, fighting back after dropping the first set 5-7, 7-5, 10-6 at #4.
  • Sophomore Anastasia Sia (Thessaloniki, Greece / Anatolia College) and first-year Ella Chase (Lincoln, Mass. / Lincoln-Sudbury Regional) rounded the day out for Brandeis.
  • Sia was pushed to a third set but eventually won 6-2, 1-6, 6-2 at #5.
  • Chase won her match easily 6-0, 6-1 at #6.

The Judges return to action Tuesday, April 11 at 3 PM when they travel to Tufts.
