#27 women's tennis falls to #8 Tufts, 7-2

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Brandeis University women's tennis team, ranked #27 in Division III, took a 7-2 loss at the hands of #8-ranked Tufts today on the road.

TEAM RECORDS

  • Brandeis: 7-8.
  • Tufts: 5-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Jumbos opened with a doubles sweep, winning 8-3, 8-0, and 8-6, to go ahead, 3-0.
  • Tufts won the first five singles matches in straight sets before Brandeis picked up its two points.
  • First-year Rebecca Suarez (Huntington, N.Y. / International Virtual Learning Academy) went to three sets at #1 against Sophie Wax of Tufts, emerging with a 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 win in a third-set super-tiebreaker.
  • At #5 singles, sophomore Anastasia Sia (Thessaloniki, Greece/Anatolia College) topped the Jumbos' Rebecca Lim, 6-4, 3-6, 10-7.
