BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The Brandeis University women's track and field team placed fourth as they opened the second semester at the 2012 Bowdoin Five Way meet. The Judges had three second-place finishes and one event with three different scoring performances.

The squad's top performance as a group came in the 1,000-meter run. Sophomore Ali Kirsch (Sharon, Mass./Sharon) finished second in the event with a time of 3:08.22, less than a second off the pace setter from Bowdoin. Rookie Kristi Pisarik (No. Chelmsford, Mass./Chelmsford) was third, 37-hundredths of a second behind her teammate, while senior Erin Bisceglia (Durham, Conn./Coginchaug) was fifth in 3:11.07.

Brandeis's two other second-place finishes came in field events. Senior Lily Parenteau (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) had a leap of 1.58 meters (5 feet, 2 1/4 inches) in the high jump, two inches out of the top spot. Junior Kim Farrington (Shirley, Mass./Ayer) took second in the triple jump with a distance of 10.51 meters (34 feet, 5 3/4 inches).

Other scoring performances were turned in by rookie Miriam Stulin (Needham, Mass./Dana Hall School), who placed third in the mile run with a collegiate best of 5:18.54 and rookie Gabriella Guilette (Lunenberg, Mass./Lunenberg), who was fourth in the 800-meters in 2:41.80. Stulin's time in the mile was the 20th-fastest in Division III this season.
