Women's track and field opens weekend at BU

BOSTON, Mass. – The Brandeis University women's track and field team opened their weekend today at the All-Division Boston University Terrier Classic. It was a non-scoring event.

The top performance of the meet came from senior Niamh Kenney (Hanover, Mass./Hanover). Kenney finished 65th in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:22.89. She was third among Division III runners and will be ranked among the top 40 in Division III. Sophomore Juliette Intrieri (North Salem, N.Y./North Salem) was 89th in the 3K with a time of 10:55.36, sixth among Division III runners.

Senior Natalie Hattan (Sugar Land, Texas/Clements) finished 87th overall in the mile, but third among D3 runners with a personal-best time of 5:18.25. Junior Victoria Morrongiello (Staten Island, N.Y. / Susan E. Wagner) also finished third among D3 in her event, the 800-meter run, with a time of 2:23.67. Both runners will be just outside of the top 50 in Division III with their performances.

In the shorter events, sophomore Alya Campbell (Eastchester, N.Y. / Eastchester) was fourth overall in the 60-meter hurdles, winning her heat in 9.63 seconds. There were two versions of the event, and Campbell was in the second of the two. Senior Devin Hiltunen (North Quincy, Mass./Quincy) ran a double, placing 45th overall and seventh among D3 runners in the 400 with a  time of 1:00.89, and 61st overall and sixth among D3 in the 400 with a time of 26.60 seconds.

Campbell also ran the 200, finishing 71st with a time of 26.87, winning her heat and finishing seventh among D3 runners. Sophomore ianna Gilbert (Queens, N.Y. / Young Women's Leadership School of Queens) also ran in both the 200 and 400, running 28.27 in the former and 1:06.24 in the latter, taking 12th among D3 runners and placing fourth in her heat.

Sophomore runner Olivia Zarzycki (Belmont, Mass. / Belmont) was 33rd in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:21.16. The team of sophomore Liz Korn (Piedmont, Calif. / Piedmont), Zarzycki, Campbell and Hiltunen placed 17th overall and fifth among Division III teams in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:13.06
