Paige Blasco earns third All-UAA selection

WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University senior volleyball player Paige Blasco of Greeley, Colo., has been selected as an All-University Athletic Association honorable mention, chosen by the coaches of the UAA teams.

Blasco, a senior outside hitter, averaged 3.44 kills per set this season, leading the team and ranking fifth in the UAA. She also finished third on the team in digs, with 2.83 digs per set, 19th in the UAA, and third in service aces with 34 (0.28 aces per set, 17th in the UAA). Blasco was a Springfield Invitational All-Tournament selection and earned UAA Player of the Week honors on Oct. 10. She recorded 15 double-doubles this season – all with kills and digs - and led the team in kills in 22 times in 34 matches.

Despite missing her freshman season due to injury, Blasco became just the eighth player in Brandeis history to reach the 1,000-kill mark, finishing sixth all-time with 1,168. Her 3.34 kills per set average ranks third all-time in Brandeis history, while her 420 kills this season are the eighth-most. This is Blasco's third All-UAA selection, including honorable-mention as a sophomore and second-team honors as a junior. She also earned AVCA All-Region honors in 2009.

Overall this season, Brandeis finished with a 15-19 record, 2-9 in the UAA, good for seventh place.

Blasco is a 2007 graduate of Frontier Academy. She is the daughter of Leon and Ellie Blasco, Greeley, Colo.
