
NEW LONDON, N.H. (information taken from a CSC press release) - The Brandeis volleyball extended their winning streak to five matches this afternoon with a 3-1 win over Emmanuel College (25-9, 25-15, 14-25,25-23) but the Judges dropped a two-hour marathon match to host Colby-Sawyer College, 3-2 (25-17, 24-26, 25-22, 17-25, 14-16). The Judges are now 7-3 overall this season, whhile the Saints fall to 4-9 and the Chargers improve to 5-7.
Against Emmanuel, Brandeis was led by rookie outside hitter Liz Hood (Albuquerque, N.M./Albuquerque Acad.). She recorded a match best 18 kills with a .382 hitting percentage. She also added three aces and six digs. Classmate and libero Elsie Bernaiche (Plantsville, Conn./Southington) tallied a match-high 23 digs. Sophomore setter Yael Einhorn (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) registered 33 assists, four kills and six digs. Junior OH Susan Sun (Acton, Mass./Acton-Boxborough) had seven aces.
In the afternoon's final match, Brandeis was led by a 16-kill, 12-dig performance from Hood. Sophomore outside hitter Si-Si Hensley (Fullerton, Calif./Troy) also recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 13 digs. Einhorn had a match best 44 assists and added 11 digs, while junior middle blocker Lauren Berens (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) had eight kills.
Colby-Sawyer sophomore Courtney O'Hara (Mystic, Conn.) had a match-high 17 kills and added 10 digs. Sophomore Emilee McBride (Strafford, N.H.) hit .409 en route to 12 kills. Sophomore Ally Le-Bruno (Medfield, Mass.) recorded 24 digs and three aces. Freshman Jackie Keating (Marshfield, Mass.) had nine kills.
