Volleyball drops four-setters to Tufts and Endicott on Day 2 of MIT Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Brandeis Volleyball played a pair of four-set matches on the second day of action at the MIT Invitational at MIT, but were unable to pull through in either. 

The Judges took a set off Tufts for the first time since 2013, but fell, 25-18, 18-25, 14-25, 12-25. They also took the first set from Endicott before dropping the match, 25-17, 19-25, 17-25, 20-25. 

Against the Jumbos, Brandeis was led offensively by sophomore Shea Decker-Jacoby (Los Angeles, California/Marymount), who had a season-high nine kills, and rookie Emma Bartlett (Duxbury, Massachusetts/Duxbury), who added seven. Sophomore Leah Pearlman (El Paso, Texas/El Paso) had 12 assists, while classmate Yvette Cho (San Diego, California/Rancho Bernardo) had 13 digs to pace the defense.

In the loss to the Gulls, Decker-Jacoby and Bartlett paced the offense again with seven and six kills, respectively. Decker-Jacoby had just one error in 13 attempts for a .462 hitting percentage. Sophomore Grace Krumpack (Cincinatti, Ohio/Colraine) notched 17 digs, Cho had 16. Pearlman recorded her first double-double of the season with 16 assists and 10 digs, the sixth of her career. Sophomore Marlee Nork (Chicago, Illinois/Walter Payton Collegiate Prep)had 11 assists, while Bartlett contributed five solo blocks.

The Judges fall to 3-4 on the season after finishing 1-3 at the MIT Invitational. They return to action on Wednesday at UMass Boston, followed by a home match on Friday nght against Bates. Both matches are at 7 p.m.
