Volleyball drops two on Senior Day to Roger Williams and Babson

WALTHAM, Massachusetts — The Brandeis University volleyball team lost twice on Saturday to move to 7-18 on the season. The Judges fell to Roger Williams, 3-1, in the noon match and lost a heartbreaker to Babson, 3-2, in their second match. Senior captain Jessica Kaufman (Tucson, Ariz./Cienaga) was honored prior to the match against Babson, which was her final home match as a Judge.

AGAINST ROGER WILLIAMS (29-27, 17-25, 17-25, 16-25)

  • The Judges came back from five set points to take the first set, which sophomore Shea Decker-Jacoby (Los Angeles, Calif./Marymount) ended with two straight service aces.

  • Decker-Jacoby had a game-high 14 kills, while junior outside hitter Jessie Moore (Rye, N.Y. / Rye) added eight of her own.

  • Sophomore setter Marlee Nork (Chicago, IL/Walter Payton College Prep) had 33 assists. She also added eight digs.

  • Brandeis had three players with double-digit digs: Sophomore libero Yvette Cho (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo) led the Judges with 17, while junior Lia Goldberg (Springfield, N.J./Union County Magnet H.S.) had 11 and freshman Doyeon Kim (La Cañada, Calif./La Cañada) had 10.

  • The Judges hit .119 for the match (41K-24E-143TA)

AGAINST BABSON (25-22, 25-18, 14-25, 24-26, 11-15)

  • In her final home match, Kaufman had two kills, three service aces, and a dig. Two of those aces came in a series of four consecutive points for Brandeis at the end of the second set, including an ace to clinch the set victory.

  • Decker-Jacoby once again led the Judges in kills with 13, while freshman Emma Bartlett (Duxbury, Mass/Duxbury) added 10 of her own.

  • Nork paced all players in assists with 36, and also had six digs, three aces, and two kills.

  • Cho had a match-high 22 digs, but Brandeis also put in a large team effort, with five other player attaining at least six digs as well.

  • The Judges hit .099 for the match (42K-27E-141TA)

UP NEXT

  • Brandeis heads to St. Louis next weekend for the UAA Championships, where they will play UChicago on November 4th.
