Volleyball drops two to Case Western, #20 Washington

CHICAGO, Ill. — The Brandeis University volleyball team dropped two matches on the first day of University Athletic Association Round Robin #2 at the University of Chicago, falling to Case Western, 3-0, and #20 Washington, 3-0. The Judges dropped to 10-8 (0-5 UAA) on the season; at the end of the day's matches, Case Western is 14-8 (3-2 UAA) and Washington is 16-6 (4-1 UAA).

AGAINST CASE WESTERN (25-17, 25-16, 25-11)

  • Junior Zara Platt (Fountain Valley, Calif. / Fountain Valley) tied for a match-high 10 kills, hitting .304

  • Junior Marlee Nork (Chicago, IL / Walter Payton College Prep) led the Judges in assists, with 12. Classmate Leah Pearlman (El Paso, Texas / El Paso) also had seven assists.

  • Junior Yvette Cho (San Diego, Calif. / Rancho Bernardo) had a team-high 11 digs. Nork and classmate Jillian Haberli (Cheshire, Conn. / Cheshire) added seven digs apiece.

  • Sophomore Emma Bartlett (Duxbury, Mass. / Duxbury) and junior Kirsten Frauens (Webster, N.Y. / Webster Schroeder) both had a match-high four block assists.

  • The Judges hit .109 for the match (29K-17E-110TA).

AGAINST #20 WASHINGTON (25-12, 25-21, 25-20)

  • Platt again led the Judges in kills, this time compiling seven.

  • Nork once again handled the bulk of the setting duties, amassing a team-high 15 assists.

  • Cho also led the Judges in digs this match, with nine. Platt and freshman Clare Meyers (Richfield, Wisc. / Slinger) also added six digs apiece.

  • The Judges hit .020 for the match (22K-21E-100TA).

ELSEWHERE IN CHICAGO

  • Washington upset #4 Emory in five sets: 25-18, 16-25, 19-25, 25-21, 15-11

  • Emory swept Case Western: 25-23, 25-14, 25-15
