Bryson to run at NCAA Division III Championships

WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University rookie Emily Bryson of Quincy, Mass., has been selected to compete in the 2015 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships. The meet will be held on Saturday, November 21, at Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winnecone, Wisc., and will be hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Bryson earned an individual berth at the championships by finishing 13th at the Division III New England Regional this past weekend at Harkness State Park in Connecticut with a time of 22:03.1 over the six-kilometer course. Bryson was fourth among individuals who were not part of a qualifying team. Her finish was the best by a Brandeis first-year runner at the regional championships since 1998.

The 2015 University Athletic Association (UAA) champion, Bryson was the first newcomer to win the conference title and Rookie of the Year in the same year. She is the first Brandeis freshman to earn a berth at the NCAA DIII Cross Country meet as an individual. Bryson has been the Judges' top finisher at every meet this season, twice earning UAA Runner of the Week honors.

As a team, the Judges finished in eighth place at the New England Regional, just out of the running for a team berth to the NCAA Championships.

Bryson is a 2015 graduate of North Quincy High School.
