Three earn All-Region status as women place third at NCAA East Regionals

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Brandeis University women's cross country team had a third-place finish at the 2022 NCAA Division III East Regional Championships, with three Judges earning All-East honors at Bowdoin College today.

TEAM RESULTS

  • The Judges finished with 142 points, edging 28th-ranked Tufts by three points for third place, 142-145. Bowdoin, who also received votes in the USTFCCCA national poll was fifth with 172 points.
  • #7 MIT won the meet with 36 points, while #16 Bates was second with 64.

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS

  • Leading the way for the Judges was junior Lizzy Reynolds (Winchester, Mass./Winchester), who was the team's top finisher for the first time in 2022. She earned her first All-Region honor with an 18th-place finish with a time of 23:06.3. She lowered her previous career-best for six kilometers by 15 seconds and improved by 50 places at Regionals.
  • Just three seconds behind Reynolds was classmate Juliette Intrieri (North Salem, N.Y./North Salem), who finished in 22nd place with a time of 23:09.2. Intrieri earned All-Region honors for the second time after placing 23rd last year.
  • Senior Bridget Pickard (Westwood, Mass./Westwood), who narrowly missed All-Region honors last year, earned them this year by finishing in 24th place with a time of 23:14.5, lowering her p.r. by two seconds.
  • First-year runner Ella Warkentine (Malvern, Pa./Conestoga) just missed out on giving the Judges a fourth All-Region selection, as she finished in 36th place, 23:32.0, just 1.2 seconds short of the top 35. She ran 10 seconds better than her previous best 6K.
  • Sophomore Zada Forde (Leverett, Mass./Amherst Regional) rounded out Brandeis's top five runners by coming in 42nd with a time of 23:41.4. She improved her performance by three spots over her 2021 performance at Regionals.
  • First-year Katriona Briggs (Menlo Park, Calif./Menlo-Atherton) and junior Katie Lyon (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands College Park) rounded out Brandeis's top seven by placing 60th and 65th, respectively, with times of 24:16.0 and 24:26.9.

UP NEXT

  • With a third-place showing, one better than their performance last year at Regionals, the Judges have an outside shot at a second-straight NCAA Championship berth. The field is revealed tomorrow at approximately 3 p.m.
