Men’s tennis finishes fifth in UAA with 5-4 upset of #12 Case Western Reserve

Coach Ben Lamanna's team posted their best finish in the University Athletic Association since 2010 and their most wins in a singles season in his tenure thanks to a huge upset in the tournament's final match. After nearly knocking off #6 Washington in the opener before falling, 6-3, the Judges coasted past NYU, 7-2, in the consolation semifinals to avenge an earlier loss. Ranked 34th at the time (but 19th at the end of the season), Brandeis met #12 Case Western Reserve in the fifth-place match. The Judges got off to a fast start against the Spartans by sweeping the doubles matches, with Michael Arguello '17 and Ryan Bunis '17 outlasting the CWRU pair, 8-6, at the top spot. In singles action, the Judges wasted no time clinching the win, as Brian Granoff '17 completed a 5-1 weekend at No. 2 with a 6-2, 6-2, win, while Tyler Ng '19 picked up the clinching point at No. 4, 6-3, 6-0.
